Bronte Country

The Bronte Country website is a special project designed, developed, maintained and promoted by Eagle Intermedia Publishing Ltd.

Haworth, Bronte Country The general purpose of the Bronte Country website (which was launched in early 1997 - originally to promote the Bronte Birthplace in Thornton) is to provide information (both directly, and through external links) about the area of the West Yorkshire and East Lancashire Pennines which is associated with the lives and works of the Brontes, and which is popularly known as "Bronte Country".

This area includes the villages of Thornton in the City of Bradford (where the Bronte Sisters were born, and the village of Haworth (where they lived and wrote their classic novels - including "Jane Eyre" and "Wuthering Heights").

The Bronte Country website also includes information about places to stay in the area (including hotels, guest houses and self catering accommodation) as well as places to eat and links to books and other products about Haworth, Bronte Country and the Brontes.

The success of the Bronte Country website reflects a broad interest in the area and the writings of the Bronte Sisters as seen at the international level, and has led to several "spin off" projects, including "mini sites" covering more details on Haworth, Bradford and Saltaire (an industrial village just outside Bradford which has recently been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO) - as well as the development of associated (but separately maintained) websites for The Yorkshire Dales, The North York Moors and the Yorkshire Coast.
